Specifications
Service Description
Computer systems and networks perform best within the correct physical
and electrical environment. Hewlett-Packard's computing environment
preparation service coordinates the activities and resources for
designing and implementing an optimal computing environment. Service
can range from implementing specific recommendations for
out-of-specification conditions to designing and implementing a fully
equipped computer room.
HP's computing environment preparation service offers a complete
solution for your computing requirements.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Single-vendor coordination HP forms a team of experienced
of all activities personnel to implement the
recommendations. The team develops and
reviews the detailed implementation
schedule with you. The assigned HP
project manager regularly reviews
progress with you to ensure a smooth and
timely implementation. Implementation
requires careful selection and
coordination with external partners and
subcontractors. HP's project manager
coordinates resources and installation
scheduling.
Requirements analysis HP assesses how the equipment will be
used, availability requirements,
security costs, and anticipated growth.
This upfront analysis ensures a
flexible, cost-effective computing
environment that will meet current and
future needs. From this analysis a full
physical design report is produced.
Site survey HP conducts a thorough survey of your
premises to identify potential problems
and propose solutions. External and
internal physical surroundings of the
computing environment are analyzed.
Electrical supply, air quality, air
temperature and humidity, and security
are assessed and appropriate
recommendations are provided.
Planning, design, and layout HP produces--or provides through a
of the computer facility selected professional partner--a full
set of engineering drawings and
specifications for the facility,
including architectural, electrical,
fire, and mechanical specifications.
Power supply requirements HP provides you with a design for a
assessment clean and secure power supply. An
electrical audit evaluates the
electrical distribution system and
reviews the independence and security of
electrical supply. Recommendations
include electrical supply conditioning
and filtering to regulate voltage,
attenuate noise transients, and provide
protection from lightning-induced power
disturbances and other sources of
electrical interference.
Design and installation of The following factors contribute to a
walls, floors, ceilings, and stable environment: building floors,
process cooling and noise walls, and ceilings to correct
control systems specifications; controlling dust
and dirt; stabilizing temperature and
humidity; and installing noise control
systems. HP designs your environment to
meet these specifications.
Design and installation of HP recommends and installs fire and
fire and security systems security systems that ensure the safety
and security of your computer facility
as well as protect your personnel and
your business.
Final verification and After installation, HP executes standard
documentation tests to verify proper functionality. HP
also diagnoses and isolates any detected
problem and works with you until all
selected recommendations are operational.
